USS South Dakota was the lead ship of the South Dakota class of battleships built just prior to World War II. She is modeled here in 1/350 scale as she appeared and as outfitted at the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands on 26 October 1942, where she downed 26 Japanese aircraft. This beautiful model is 22.5 inches in length and comes mounted on a fine wood base covered with a durable acrylic case that measures 26" long, 7.25" wide and 10.25" high (including base).
